The Globe & Mail: ASUS VivoTab Note 8 offers good value for Windows users

After suffering through the use of a Microsoft Surface and surviving multiple tech support trysts with Windows 8 computers owned by my friends and family, I would never have suspected that I’d enjoy working with a Windows 8 tablet.

But here we are.

While its eight inch display was a little cramped for running some full-blown desktop apps, I was actually sorry to have to send the ASUS VivoTab Note 8 back to ASUS once I’d finished reviewing it. The biggest selling point for me? Being able to work with Scrivener—a research and writing program I use for hours every day—on a portable piece of gear small enough to stash in a cargo pocket. Tempting.
