I’m happy to announce that I’ve been hired on by Maximum PC to wrangle three regular mini-features: Chrome Web App of the Week, Browser Extension of the Week and Sweet Site of the Week, which will appear on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays respectively.
I’m really excited about these new projects, for a number of reasons. First and foremost would have to be that just like Mac|Life, Maximum PC is a FutureUS joint, and their culture is absolutely awesome. I’ve never had a more enjoyable experience working for a company than I have since I started Freelancing for the folks at FutureUS last year. From the editors right down to the people that process my cheques, everyone is a pleasure to deal with. While I don’t have healthcare benefits, and can’t be sure of how much scratch I’ll going to end up with at the end of the month, it’s nice to know that at the very least, the folks you work for are a decent crew. Second, the majority of the work I’ve been doing of late has been how-to related. With these new weekly features, I have a chance to say, “Hey, look at this” instead of “Hey, here’s how to do this”. It makes for a nice break from the Seamus status quo.
Lastly, there’s money. Sweet, delicious money. When I’m not busy eating it, I can do cool things like buy stuff and pay my rent. Show me the naysayer who can’t get behind that.
Well, enough personal blogging: I’ve an iOS application review to crank out for tomorrow morning, and despite extensive water boarding and sleep depravation therapy, it still refuses to write itself.
