When I was a kid, if I knew my folks wouldn’t dig something I was planning to do, I’d go on ahead and do it and tell them after the fact. Aping a page from my childhood (because they totally watch my every move), Apple has done much the same, announcing iCloud at WWDC 2011, without giving a head’s up to Verizon or AT&T. How will Cupertino’s data-hungry new service effect the already overburdened networks of North America’s largest telecoms? Your guess is as good as mine. If you feel like taking a boo at my guess, you can find it here.
Despite my best efforts, there was no getting Verizon or AT&T to give us a comment on their feelings concerning Apple’s snub. The closest I got was a response from a Verizon rep who stated:
"We are researching and will have someone get back to you…may be from Apple but we’ll get back to you."
They didn’t get back to me.
