The November issue of Irish Music Magazine marks my 18th year of writing for the publication. My editor there, Séan Laffey, gave me my first assignment for them before I was out of Journalism school. My speaking Gaelic and playing trad music might have something to do with that--it certainly couldn't at the time, had anything to do with the quality of my writing. Anyway, moving on.
Seasons is a five-piece family band from the eastern United States that marries elements of trad, new-wave folk and contemporary music to make a sound all their own. If you're one for a tune, they might not be your cup of tea, as their albums and live show are very song-heavy, featuring a large number of original compositions. But I'll tell you that they do what they do very well. That November issue of IMM I was flapping my gums about? It features my recent interview with them. If you're so inclined and have access to the magazine, do check it out. If you're in North America and can't wrangle yourself a copy of it, wait a spell: I'll likely have a PDF copy of it to post here soon enough.
