It's hard to believe that I've researched, written and curated The Wirecutter/Sweethome space heater guide for three years, but here we are. The short version: Last year's picks are this year's picks. I managed to find some great heating hardware that has yet to be beat by anything else I can find out there. If you need a new heater to help keep the chill out of your home, look no further.
I have deeply mixed emotions about this particular piece of work. On one hand, it's a proud thing to know that you've researched to the very end of the Internet and, in doing so, have provided your readers with the best resource you can manage. I like the fact that maybe my having taken over 100 hours in the past three years to research the hardware, outlined in the guide is helping someone to safely warm their home.
On the other hand, all of the math, careful consideration and the flurry of writing that it takes to put a Wirecutter guide together, can at times, be more than a little daunting. Fortunately, at the times where I'm writing monsters like this, I have the abilities of a number of excellent folks to draw on. This year's guide wouldn't have been possible without the skills of my occasional partner in crime Dr. Jim Shapiro. And it certainly wouldn't look as good as it does without the skills and talents of the Sweethome/Wirecutter editorial team, who always manage to make a polished jewel out of the turd I submit to them when my copy's due.
Anyway, if you're cold, take a look.
